I hauled the bikes up , opened the cabin up, and picked up Tanya at the Billings airport a few days later. It was great to be back. Half wild horses lived nearby- open range- and a vast herd of goats, owned by back country nieghbors, wandered thru, unter the watchful eyes of two huge Basque sheep dogs, who hunt down & kill coyotes as a team.
we took the Beartooth range into Yellowstone- the pass is 11,900 feet! and stopped at th top, in ice fields, the bikes makin little note of the thin air.
We lucked out in Yellowstone, scaring up great campsites.
then a night at a hot springs, and home- incredible ride- to our cabin outside of Melstone Montana.
july 4th saw us in Roundup, hangin out at the biker bar. A few old shovelheads, and old mechanics,
and cocktails on the street, as the parade went by. We took off on a 200 miler, thru Lewiston, and back to Roundup where the bike hoodlums invited us to a bbq.
They were short of weed, I wasnt, & it was quite jolly.
we headed the 50 miles back to the ranch with the perfect balance of booze, dope, perfect light, and empty roads.
Some of our nieghbors out there re serious hillbillies, off the grid most of thier lives. They work like mules & live a pretty hard life, it seems.
heard great stories , rode some great miles, and now were back. damn.

Sounds like you had a good OL time in Montana. Nothing like gettin' out of Cali to give you a fresh breath of air and a look at what it's like in other parts of the dream. I went out to the La Mesa car show tonight. ( LOT'S A COPS ) but some ( KEWL ) cars. All the bars seemed to have cleaned up thier act a bit from the last time I was there. ( No Black Panthers but lot's of grey ones )
