leaving Mon AM, 5 up & over, 395 back. Check out all the squiggly roads on the map up thataway. She's been up that piece before but I aint been west of the 395 up there.
New hardbag mount upgrades , R&R'd a ex stud yesterday, new rear tire, rotor & pads. plugs clean, a dollop of Lucas Oil Additive .....expanded long range tool kit on board. The old boy is hot to trot....likes to locomotive the hills & twisties. Laff if ya want, but a FX framed Harley can lean right over, the front end on there- a 74 sporty setup w/ Prog Susp. springs and good bushes is a good roadholder in its own right. Showa. Proper Japanese kit. Plus the torque- takes the switchbacks with elan. Honestly, I cant ride as well as what the Dreadnought can do. Ill be sporting my Spokes t outbound....
She's on that beast of a Road King, just under a 100HP. Tent, bags, rations- our last SoCal road trip, I figure..... Coming right up: Assignment: Toronto. Once again the expat.....done it before....ah, yes, to stroll Torontos frozen industrial canals, a loaf of moose bread under one arm,. holding a jug of fortified wine in the other, trailing Galois smoke.......crap. I was starting to have fun.
I get a 3.70 posi rear for the truck, tho, out of the deal (im cheap) that will be very cool for the rig. Upgrade of magnitude. Itll be a good roadtrip out there...sleep in the truck, like is proper.

Sushi? Really??

Well, that Shovelhead of mine is the last iteration of the engine that started in 34 as the Knuckleead. Domed pistons, hemi combustion chambers- like the t120/140/150 Triumphs. 30's state of the art. The only thing I like "modern" is electronic ignition. Mo spark, beter regulated, less current draw. And it works....until it dosnt.
200 mi from home, a ticking time bomb from a loose connection I tightened on the way out went off & I had a 1 banger bike. No fixin it, its solid state.....so, about 50 mi N of the 15 on the 395 i was dead in the water. Called AAA- 100 mi free, so they hauled me & it to Corona. Ttook off for ho,e when te tow truck showed up, & drive the van up to corona & we wheeled the bike up the ramp & got home around midnight.
I rooted thru the parts pile & found a points setup. Itll be points frpm here on out.
Gotta find a point coil, tho. (they run a couple Ohms, electronic coils run 4-5)
If I had points, Id be home now, I was thinkin, waitin up thee in the parkin lot.
A Harley just runs one set, not like my old Bonnie or the Trident. With them, electronics make sense. One set of points? the same part # as 60-70's Chev 6's? I think I can live with that......

Hey Mutt; My youngest daughter has lived in Toronto for the last ten years and loves that big city life style ( Kind of like New York north.) Alot of surface streets but not to many freeways. BEER, YES ! SUSHI, MAYBE !
