Comment by Ross Bruce on February 14, 2012 at 4:26pm That is SOOOOO COOL! I love original historical photos like this! Thanks for posting this Doug. I'm sure your uncle never would have imagined that one day in the future, people from anywhere in the world would someday enjoy and appreciate what he and his friends were doing at that very moment in time. Thank you so much for sharing.
Those guys were real bikers! 2 ton bikes with drum brakes in the dirt with leather skull caps. Man that looks like fun!
Hi Doug; With Harley's shifting on the left, and Indian's shifting on the right. It must have been a lot of fun swtiching from to the other. ( Watch out for the barley therapy ) One thing thow ther was'ent that much traffic in the forty's. ( NEAT PICTURE )
Comment by Doug Smith on November 30, 2011 at 9:29pm I never realized my Uncle was a biker until I was in my 30's. He was my Moms twin brother and he passed away not long after the photo was taken. He died on their birthday at 27 years old. I have some other photos of him and "Al" (the guy on the right, who is still alive) while they were bear hunting, on motorcycles, in the Beartooth Mountains in Montana.
