Thanks for the "cop up ahead" hand signal!
Chopper guy headed south on the 15 today saved me from an expensive CHP performance award. I was in the carpool lanes headed north at about 90 mph when I saw the guy on the chopper tappin' his helmet. Rolled off, and sure enough a CHP was hiding behing a bridge support!! He picked up a SUV right behind me who was making a pass as I slowed. Whew, and thanks to the Chopper guy!!

Glad you posted this because I had a similar experience last week up here in SF, riding into the city after rush hour at 85. Oncoming traffic was blocked and I saw a stationary rider tapping the top of his helmet. I slowed and reached for the top of my helmet, then looked around the bike, thinking I had something coming undone. Then I saw the cop hiding out under the overpass and was glad I'd slowed already. ha!
I'd never heard of this signal before now.
