Event Description

An iconic image was created in June, 1929. Hundreds of motorcyclists converged on the sand for the Western Federation of Motorcyclists (W.F.M.) Rally in beautiful Pismo Beach, California. This image continues to spur the imagination of motorcyclists everywhere, as evidenced by the numerous vendors who continue to package and sell copies of it to this very day. It's time to recreate history.

The Pismo Beach Motorcycle Classic is being organized by the Pasadena Motorcycle Club and the San Francisco Motorcycle Club. The goal is to re-start the tradition of assembling hundreds of motorcyclists on the beach for a panoramic photo taken during the WFM Rallies of the 1920's (a similar photo exists from the 1924 rally).

Each club will be organizing a scenic and memorable ride for Sat. Sept. 18th. These rides will conclude at 1300 Railroad St., Oceano Beach CA for the Classic.

Sunday morning, Sept. 19th all Pismo Beach Motorcycle Classic participants will gather at the Pismo Beach Pier for the panoramic photo. This 2010 photo will be a part of history and inspire motorcyclists in the same way the 1929 image has.

Be part of that history.

Riding to Pismo Beach from La Mesa Friday morning. Campsite at Pismo Beach State Park holds 8, so far there are 3 of us using it. Please let me know if you are looking for a place to camp. - see you there!

G-Man/Shadley - cleared for takeoff by boss next Friday. I'll need to swing by work for a couple of hours but should pull out the gate ~10-ish. Meet up some place?

Yup this is going to be a fun ride. So much to see between here and Pismo. Personally i am a fan of Virgil's motorcycle museum in Solvang. Not to mention a breakfast of dutch pancakes and bakery fresh Crumble and coffee. I'm looking forward to it!

I just made a campsite reservation at Pismo Beach State Park which is 2 blocks from the rally site. This is in front of the famous sand dunes on which you can ride your bike or rent something to ride them on. Its 300 miles from La Mesa to Oceano.
